A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Korean-born violinist Hwi-Eun Kim is an active chamber musician and soloist. Her principal teachers include Joseph Silverstein, Ida Kavafian, and Donald Weilerstein.

She has appeared as soloist with numerous Korean orchestras including the Korean National Festival Orchestra, Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Korea Youth Orchestra. Kim has had recital appearances at the Sejong Arts Center, Khumho Arts Hall, and the Daegu Arts Center as well. She is first prize winner at the Ehwa, TBC Broadcasting Station, and Korea Music Association Competitions.

As a chamber musician, she has performed in Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and more. Kim’s chamber music studies have been with world-renowned musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, and Paul Katz. Her string quartet was chosen as the American representative for the Franco-American Music Festival in Missillac, France. Currently, she is finishing her doctorate at the USC Thornton School of Music under the tutelage of Glenn Dicterow.
