LORI DEMELLO

Soprano/Workshop

 

 

Dr. Lori DeMello lives with her husband Karl (a Hilo native) in HPP. She earned her B.M.Ed. and M.Ed. at St. Ambrose Univ. (Davenport, IA). Her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction is from the University of Iowa (Iowa City, IA).

 Dr. DeMello sang with G&ST&RS Gilbert & Sullivan Theatre & Repertory Society from 1987-1997 and was featured in The Mikado (Yum-Yum & Pitti-Sing), Trial by Jury (Angelina), Patience (Ella), and Orpheus in the Underworld (Mercury). She also performed with the Quad-City Opera in La Bohéme, Carmen, La Traviata, and Die Fledermaus. Later, she sang with the Augusta Choral Society and Macon Choral Society and was featured soloist in Haydn’s Little Organ Mass (Sacred Heart Cathedral, Augusta, GA).

 Featured theater roles include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hermia), King Lear (Cordelia), Two Gentlemen of Verona (Silvia), Richard III (Queen Margaret), As You Like It (Rosalind), Much Ado About Nothing (Beatrice), Twelfth Night (Olivia), Merchant of Venice (Jessica), The Crucible (Elizabeth Proctor), and The Importance of Being Earnest (Gwendolyn).

 Most recently, Ms DeMello appeared as Katisha in KDEN’s 2022 production of The Mikado and was featured with Hilo Community Chorus,  Fantasia Singers, and the Volcano Festival Chorus. She can be reached at Lori.F.DeMello@gmail.com.
